Get support for your intellectual property

Your innovative startup can access education, skills development and financial support to develop, implement and leverage your intellectual property in three streams.

Options 

  • Stream 1 – Education and Awareness
  • Steam 2 – Mentorship and Strategy: Maximum $25,000 and 1:1 mentoring  
  • Stream 3 – Implementation: Maximum of $60,000 to cover eligible legal implementation costs

You

  • Have a startup based in BC, Yukon, Northwest Territories or Nunavut
  • Fewer than 500 full-time employees
  • Have an innovative technology and/or operate in the tech sector
  • Own or have the rights to use your IP in Canada

Funding for collaborative international R&D projects

Canadian SMEs can apply for up to $600,000 in funding to help cover research and development project costs while working with a partner in Brazil, China, India, Israel or South Korea. When there is a call for proposals with one of these countries, Canadian SMEs and their partner can submit co-innovation project applications.

Money 

  • Maximum: $600 000
  • Non-repayable (An interest-free contribution, to be spent as outlined in your agreement, that does not have to be paid back as long as the conditions are met)

Funding Limits

  • This program will cover a maximum of 50% of eligible costs

You 

  • Are a Canadian company that is:
    • incorporated, for-profit SME
    • seeking to develop new or improved products services or processes with a high potential for commercialization
    • ready to collaborate on a R&D project with a foreign partners
